Collinson Hall: a brief history
The present-day Collinson Hall is a company formed from two very well-known property businesses: Collinsons Estate Agents, and Halls Estate Agents. Both Collinsons and Halls have a long history in St Albans, and Halls was founded in the town all the way back in 1825.
Today, the company is wholly owned by Steven Walker and Catherine Walker, who are also Directors and enthusiastic St Albans residents and advocates. Steven brought Collinson Estate Agents back to life in 1989 after it had been through a corporate buy-out in the late 1980s. At this time the company was based in Holywell Hill.
The growth of Collinsons
In 1999, Collinsons moved to Victoria Street and shared the premises with Halls Estate Agents. There was a clear synergy between the two companies: Collinsons focused on residential sales while Halls focused on residential lettings, commercial and professional work.
Collinsons and Halls join forces
After working closely together for some years, it made sense to bring the two agencies together finally. Collinson Hall was formed in 2007, which included Catherine Walker, whose board-level experience in the financial research sector added strategy and finance skills to the firm. Philippa Dowson joined the company in 2012 and following a period of working as an Associate Director was made a full Director in December 2019.
